Thanks for sharing, Jazz. In the future, you can use the saute function for a minute or two. That will help the milk boil--just watch closely!

I like it extra tangy, so I followed the recipe, but left it for 16 hours and it was really good. I just had trouble with the pressure cooker getting to the boil function, but I got it.

Hi Stacey! The timing would be the same. I would also recommend using the full 2 tablespoons of a starter, as 1.5 quarts is so close to 1/2 gallon. Enjoy!

The amount of yogurt used and the time? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ruth! Yes, I would fully defrost your starter. If you continue to have issues, you can double the starter or try a new starter, in case yours went bad.

And if my batch came out runny and I know the setting was on "Normal" what do you recommend? If running it again do I use more starter?

Thank you for sharing that feedback, Amanda. It may be the temperature of your house as well that is impacting the cooling process, but it is always best to keep a close eye on the yogurt as the temperature is critical for success šŸ™‚

It was under desired temp after about 5 minutes. So I had to heat the milk up again. Next time Iā€™ll just let it cool on the counter. Fingers crossed this batch works out!

Hi Kristen! First, check to be sure your incubation is set to normal not low, that is often a cause of thin liquid. You can reuse the milk with new starter. In the future, wait to stir anything into the yogurt for at least 8 hours. I hope that helps šŸ™‚

My name is Kristen šŸ¤
I just made my first batch last night and it was very runny. I had hoped that it sitting in the fridge overnight would solidify things however while it did solidify a little itā€™s still not the thick yogurt texture. In my excitement I added cinnamon and maple syrup last night thinking it would solidify overnight. I was wondering if you had an suggestions.

I used one packet of starter, so I was thinking of getting plain yogurt and redoing the last ā€œit does itā€™s thingā€ step , but I wasnā€™t sure since I added maple syrup if that would prevent it from doing its thing.

Any help would be great otherwise I will start again šŸ¤ŖšŸ˜‚

Hi Ashley! Did you incubate on normal? Sometimes it will default to low, which will result in runnier yogurt. Feel free to run through process again to thicken up OR strain over cheesecloth.

Just updating and have another Q - the flavor is great with a mild vanilla undertone, but the consistency is really runny. Any suggestions on what happened or how to thicken after the process?

Hi Christen! I have not personally used goat milk for this recipe. I have had readers share with me that it turns out really thin.

Hi Ashley! It will work, but will slightly flavor the yogurt with vanilla undertones.

The most plain I can find is vanillaā€¦ would that work as my starter?
