Our dog has always had a bit of a sensitive stomach, as many dogs (and humans) do. She is on a gluten-free, corn-free, dairy-free diet--which may sound horrible, but trust me, Bailey does not seem to be suffering.
Especially given that we make Homemade Dog Treats, or as my kids call them Dog Cookies, on a regular basis.
Ingredients for Homemade Dog Treats
These simple dog treats are made with just oats, banana, peanut butter, and egg--which are ingredients that are known to not only be safe for dogs to consume but actually good for them as well.
Plus these staple ingredients are ones we always have on hand and these peanut butter dog treats come together in minutes. So no excuse NOT to spoil our dog with homemade treats.
How to Make Homemade Dog Treats
- Mash the banana with the egg and peanut butter.
- Mix in the oats.
- Scoop 1 tablespoon batter out onto baking sheet, lined with silmat or parchment paper.
- Flatten slightly with a fork, like traditional peanut butter cookies.
- Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
- Let cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
- Store dog cookies in an airtight container for 5 days, or in the fridge for 7 days.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Dog Treats
Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup mashed ripe banana ~1 large banana
- 3 tablespoons creamy, natural peanut butter
- 1 cup rolled oats
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg. Add the banana and peanut butter and mix until the banana is mashed and everything is well combined. Add the oats and mix until the oats are fully moistened.
- Scoop onto a rounded tablespoon onto a cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with a fork.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Cool fully before serving to your dog.

Can I leave out the banana.
I have oats and peanut butter and egg..but no banana.

Hi Renee! I am sure your dog won't complain about there being no bananas, but you likely will need additional peanut butter or applesauce to hold the treats together.

Absolutely! Allow the treats to cool, place them in an airtight freezer-safe container and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Pull a treat or two out at a time and let fully defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator before allowing your dog to enjoy.

We ran out of training treats for our puppy and the weather has kept us from really going anywhere for the past few days so I made these. He loves them, I made them super small, he actually likes them more than the meat treats I get at the pet supply store.
