I am so thrilled to have found your page. I am new to this amazing multi cooker and really was apprehensive about where to start. I’ve made a couple of slow cooker meals which turned out great. Now I am going to get to grips with the one pot pressure cooking facility. You explain everything so beautifully, it leaves me full of enthusiasm and excitement to get cooking. I love the chicken and rice recipe, that’s going to be my next meal, probably tomorrow as we have been out with my kids for Mother’s Day lunch today. So again thank you for all of your hard work on this subject. I am sure there are many people taking your tips and recipes on board.

I am having trouble trying to cook corn on the cob. In order to get 2 minutes on high pressure which buttons do I have to push to get 2 minutes.
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Kathy! That will depend on the model you have. I would suggest using the manual or pressure cook button and then use the +/- buttons to adjust until it reads "2". If you don't have a model with manual or pressure cook, please let me know and I can walk you through your specific model 🙂

Is a electric pressure cooker, same, or similar to IP?
Kristen Chidsey
Yes, most electric pressure cookers work very similarly.

Hi Kristen I happened to delete one of my emails. It was about using the instant pot. It had many helpful hints. The first about making your own yogurt, not what I wanted, but the next had many helpful tips about using the instant pot, like hints for steaks and chicken, and help with good tips about using my instant pot. (Something I definitely need) I had the mail for so time time so can not help you with. But I love your column and keep many. I appriate your help. Thanks.

I have a Fagor pressure cooker(not electric). Will these tips help me?
I have it pretty well mastered but would like additional tips. In the future I may purchase an electric.
Thank you.
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Carol! These tips are designed for electric pressure cookers, not traditional stove-top models. But they may help you decide if you want an electric pressure cooker in the future.

I like your advice! We got a three quart IP for going camping in a sprinter (get it in November). Want to count on making spaghetti with sauce. Don’t have a handle on the sauce/water/pasta amounts. Small rig. Don’t have room for a lot of ingredients!
Kristen Chidsey
Hi Linda! I hope you enjoy your adventure and I know you will love your instant pot. I have a recipe for Instant Pot Spaghetti. It can be halved for a smaller crowd, or you can prepare the entire batch.
